Your choice

Save only what you need

A preset can change brightness and temperature while leaving contrast alone. Each included display can have its own values.

Your displays

Keep the saved targets

A preset recalls the displays saved inside it, even if a different display is selected in the main window.

Your routine

Keep it easy to recognize

Use names like “Work & focus” or “Movie night.” Drag a preset by its icon to put your favorites first.

02 / Bring it back

Do I need Pro to use presets?

Yes. Saving and recalling presets is a Pro feature in Display Dimmer 2.2.12 and later. Compare Free and Pro.

What does “Leave unchanged” mean?

An unchecked control keeps its current level when the preset is recalled. For example, include Brightness and Temperature and leave Contrast unchecked to keep your existing contrast setting.

What happens if a saved display is disconnected?

The preset applies to its saved displays that are connected and available. Missing or ambiguous displays are skipped; a newly connected display is not automatically added to the preset.

Why did recalling a preset pause my schedule?

Recalling a preset that includes brightness is a manual brightness adjustment. It pauses applicable automation on the preset’s target displays so your chosen levels can take effect. Use Resume automation when you want saved automation to take over again.

Can editing a preset change an active rule?

Yes. Schedules and app rules reference the saved preset. If an active rule uses it, saving new preset levels can update that rule’s output. Creating a new preset does not automatically recall it.

Can I recall presets from a script?

Yes. Display Dimmer’s local automation tools support preset recall. See the CLI API guide for local automation options.
